Louis Degos

Biography

Louis Degos was admitted to the Paris bar on 13 January 1999. A lawyer specialising in litigation, international arbitration and alternative dispute resolution, he has advised French and international companies for over twenty-five years on the prevention and resolution of their disputes. A partner at the Paris office of K&L Gates, he served as its Managing Partner until 31 December 2025. He continues to practise there as a partner, devoting his expertise fully to strategic cases and to the development of the firm’s litigation and arbitration practice. His professional and institutional engagements reflect a sustained commitment to the legal profession and its future: · Member of the Council of the Paris Bar Association from 2012 to 2014 · Delegate of the President of the Bar for Public Affairs from 2014 to 2015 · Member of the French National Bar Council (CNB) from 2015 to 2020, where he served two consecutive terms as Chairman of the Commission on Future, Prospective and Innovation of the legal profession. He is also the founder and editor of the Revue Pratique de la Prospective et de l’Innovation, published by LexisNexis, a journal devoted to the transformation of the legal profession and the emerging challenges facing the law. Since 2021, he has been a member of the French delegation to the Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe (CCBE), where he represents France within European institutions. Deeply involved in the field of arbitration, he holds or has held responsibilities within several leading institutions: · Director of the French Arbitration Committee · Member of the French Arbitration Association, the Swiss Arbitration Association and Paris Home of International Arbitration · Member of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers. He is a regular speaker and lecturer, notably in arbitrator training programmes and at conferences devoted to litigation and arbitration. Louis Degos has been accredited by the French Lawyers National Mediation Centre to practice as mediator. He holds the distinction of Knight of the National Order of Merit.
