Biography

Court Registrar & Senior Law Clerk (Netherlands Commercial Court) Mr Visser studied Private Law at Utrecht University (the Netherlands) and obtained a Master’s Degree in 1998. During his studies he worked as a Student Researcher for the Netherlands Institute of Human Rights. Since his graduation he has been in the employ of the Dutch Judiciary, drafting judgments in complex civil cases in the areas of commercial law, IP and private international law. He published several articles and gave various webinars on private international law. This is also the topic of his new book: "Private International Law - A Step-By-Step Approach" which is about to be published. In 2019, he became the Registrar of the Netherlands Commercial Court (based in Amsterdam). In this capacity, he oversees the general operations of the court and drafts judgments in English. He is one of the representatives of the Dutch Judiciary at the Standing International Forum of Commercial Courts. During his 25+ years of serving the Judiciary he was appointed member of several national judicial expert groups, including the Expert Group on European Private Law which he continues to serve.
