Biography

Siddharth Kusumakar is a Partner and UPC Representative at Powell Gilbert LLP (www.powellgilbert.com), a specialist European IP Law firm with offices in London, Düsseldorf, and Dublin. Sidd advises on patent litigation strategies in national and UPC courts across Europe. He is widely recognised for his considerable experience in managing technically complex multi-jurisdictional patent disputes. With a background in immunology, he has particular expertise in the life sciences sector. As a UPC representative, Sidd has acted in several of the first cases to be brought before the Unified Patent Court and has appeared in hearings before the Munich Local Division, Nordic Baltic Regional Division, Helsinki Local Division, Paris Central Division and Court of Appeal. He has also successfully acted for clients in some of the most high-profile patent cases to come before the UK courts in recent years, including landmark UK Supreme Court decisions in relation to the law of enablement and the infringement of second medical use patents, as well as cases shaping the current UK landscape on the availability of injunctions where the public interest is engaged.
