Biography

IOANA RATESCU currently acts as R&D Legal Head Safety, and International Regulatory Affairs & Development Europe Legal Lead at Novartis Pharma AG in Basel, Switzerland. Ioana provides extensive legal-regulatory support in relation to medicinal products, medical devices and drug-device combinations. Before joining Novartis in 2019, Ioana served as Legal Advisor and Deputy Data Protection Officer for the European Medicines Agency in London. Prior to that, Ioana worked as a lawyer at the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, following several years as a pharmaceutical and IP lawyer in private practice in law firms in Romania. Ioana graduated summa cum laude from the University of Bucharest and the University of Paris I: Panthéon-Sorbonne and was admitted to the Bucharest Bar Association in 2006.
