Inka Luhrs

Biography

Inka has just completed her PhD on one of the hottest topics in the industry: billable hours. Drawing on interviews with nearly 80 lawyers, she gained nuanced and comprehensive insights into how top City law firms price matters, measure performance, and manage client relationships - and how this shapes behaviours and outcomes under pressure. The thesis itself uncovers relational dynamics and internal misunderstandings that illuminate why change initiatives – e.g. technology adoption – fail or succeed at the team level. Taking on the complexity and modularity that pricing will need to develop as AI transforms the legal industry, Inka is now building a practical framework matching pricing arrangements and styles of cost and client management to different types of legal work. Inka is a qualified Swiss lawyer, and holds degrees in Law and Economics from the University of St. Gallen and University of Hamburg. Positioned as a natural translator between legal and commercial perspectives, she is currently exploring opportunities to apply her expertise in pricing, commercial or transformation roles in the legal market.
