Biography

Mat leads a multi-disciplined team of professionals in Grant Thornton Hong Kong. He has been appointed by the Court or Creditors as Provisional Liquidator, Liquidator, Administrator, Receiver or Trustee in Hong Kong, the British Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands, Bermuda and Samoa to conduct insolvency assignments of various high-profile companies or estates with substantial assets. Some of his Hong Kong insolvency appointments were recognised by courts in the USA, the BVI and Australia. He has more than 30 years’ experience in the practice of Corporate Restructuring, Insolvency and Estate Administration Services. He started his career working with the Official Receiver’s Office in Hong Kong and then moved to specialist insolvency firms in Hong Kong and Australia. He has been a partner of a Big Four accounting firm prior to joining Grant Thornton. He is mainly involved in engagements covering Restructuring, Receivership, Interim & Crisis Management, Liquidation, Administration, Scheme of Arrangement, Bankruptcy and Individual Voluntary Arrangement and Informal Arrangement.
