Biography

Rebecca Christie is a Senior Fellow at Bruegel and hosts Bruegel's podcast, The Sound of Economics. She specialises in capital markets and financial stability. Her work discusses the intersection of policy, politics and markets, particularly when it comes to the European Union and how it interacts with the world, sustainable finance, banking, taxation and public debt management. In 2024 she was a senior economist at the European Central Bank working on retail savings and capital markets union, and was lead author on the European Stability Mechanism’s official history book, "Safeguarding the Euro in Times of Crisis: the Inside Story of the ESM". In her prior career as a journalist, she wrote for Bloomberg News, Dow Jones/The Wall Street Journal, Reuters Breakingviews and the Financial Times.
