Biography

Mr. Smith is the Chief Legal & Governance Officer and Corporate Secretary of Falabella S.A., one of Chile’s largest corporations with operations across several countries in Latin America in the retail, banking and finance and commercial real estate sectors. He is admitted to practice in Chile and in North Carolina and holds an LLB from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, an LLM from Harvard Law and an MBA from the University of Arkansas. In 2019 he was recognized by Chambers & Partners as one of the 100 most influential GCs in the world. Prior to joining Falabella Mr. Smith was VP and General Counsel for Latin America for Walmart Stores, Inc., and prior to that he was an associate at Carey Abogados, in Santiago; Davis Polk & Wardwell, in New York; and Cuatrecasas Abogados, in Madrid.
