Biography

Thomas Weimann, for many years a senior partner at Clifford Chance and head of that firm's Düsseldorf arbitration and litigation practice, later a Herbert Smith Freehills Partner from 2015 to 2021, joined Jones Day in Düsseldorf in September 2021. He enjoys a practice that spans a wide range of disputes work, local, domestic and international, with a special focus on high value construction, civil engineering and M&A disputes. Thomas sits as an arbitrator in proceedings under the auspices of the ICC, DIS, CIETAC and PCA and other renowned arbitral institutions. He has been counsel to about 80 major construction arbitrations. As the former President of the Chinese European Legal Association he has well developed links with China.
