Saroj K Ghimire

Biography

Mr Ghimire is an Attorney at Law at Supreme Court of Nepal. He is also Asst. Prof of Law at Tribhuvan University and holds dual LL.M from UK and India He is an Ex. Co Member for LAWASIA.. Mr Ghimire practices in the various areas of law including constitution, human rights, telecom, aviation, hydroelectricity, financial law and project financing, arbitration and data protection. He is the immediate Treasurer of Supreme Court Bar Association. Mr Ghimire appears before the Supreme Court in the high-profile commercial litigation and have appeared in the top constitutional cases at the Constitutional Bench of Supreme Court on the dissolution of parliament. He has also appeared before the historical bench of Supreme Court that was constituted with 19 justices to interpret the extension of law of limitation due to Covid-19 and lock down and has filed PIL which propounded landmark judgement for protection of human rights and framing of pandemic laws in Nepal. Mr Ghimire has advises on constitutional matters to governmental agencies, provincial government and conducts training to justices, lawyers, academician in various areas of law including professional ethics and capacity development for Nepal Bar Association, Nepal Bar Council, National Judicial Academy, National Judicial Service Commission, Nepal Police Academy. He frequently writes in the law journals and has been interviewed by national and international newspapers. He has been invited as Speaker in various international conferences including IBA (Sydney 2017, Seoul 2019, Miami 2022 and Paris 2023) LAWASIA (India 2023,Sydney 2022, Hong Kong 2019, Delhi 2018, Katmandu 2011), Asia Pro Bono Conference ( Philippines 2023, Laos 2022, Kathmandu 2019) SAARC LAW 2017, UN South Asia Forum 2021 and has delivered Guest Lectures in China, UK and India, Mr Ghimire is the Managing Partner of Himalayan Lawyers & Associates, a Kathmandu based law firm which provides legal consultancy and litigation services in various areas of law including pro bono and works as local counsel for international law firms.
