Marcelo Calliari

Biography

Head of the Competition Law practice of TozziniFreire in São Paulo, Marcelo Calliari was a commissioner of the Brazilian antitrust agency CADE, from 1998 to 2000, and president of the Brazilian Institute of Studies on Competition, Consumer Affairs and International Trade (IBRAC), from 2010 to 2011. He is past-chair of the International Trade and Customs Law Committee of the IBA, and has served as a Non-Governmental Advisor to the International Competition Network (ICN) multiple times. Marcelo Calliari advises clients on all areas of competition, including mergers, investigations, leniency and compliance, he is consistently recognized as a leading lawyer in competition and trade law in national and international legal publications such as Chambers Global, Chambers Latin America, The Legal 500, Latin Lawyer 250, GCR 100, Expert Guides, Who's Who Legal and Análise Advocacia 500. Marcelo is recognized as LACCA Thought Leader: Antitrust & competition and he is LACCA Approved. He holds degrees in economics and law, an LL.M. from Harvard Law School and a PhD from the University of São Paulo (USP), and writes and speaks frequently about antitrust around the world.
