Biography
Jan Dreyer is an attorney for the maritime industry with a focus on contract drafting and negotiation for the shipbuilding and supplier industry, ship financing, maritime and transport insurance law. He has extensive experience in litigation, arbitration and recourse actions and as arbitrator, conciliator and mediator.
Jan is an expert for German law in foreign court proceedings. He is instructed by shipowners, banks, funds, insurers, shipyards and suppliers, off-shore companies and yacht owners.
He joined the firm and its predecessor, Dabelstein & Passehl, in 1996 after having worked as in-house counsel at the shipyard, Blohm + Voss AG, in Hamburg for more than three years. Before that, Jan had started his career in an international law firm in Hamburg, which is now a part of one of the major law firms worldwide.
Jan Dreyer is an active member of the IBA Maritime and Insurance Committees. He served as an IBA-officer starting in 2009 and was Chair of the Maritime Committee in 2013/2014. He is currently a member of the advisory board to the committee. Jan speaks regularly at international law seminars and conferences on maritime, transport and insurance topics.
Jan Dreyer is constantly ranked since more than 15 years in Who is Who Legal: Thought Leaders, Chambers, Best Lawyers and member of the Legal 500 Hall of Fame.
