Bettina Knoetzl

Biography

Bettina Knoetzl is a founding partner at KNOETZL, an Austrian based law firm specialized in international litigation, arbitration, asset recovery and white-collar crime. She is a trial lawyer with 25 years’ experience in high-profile international and Austrian contested matters, scoring notable successes in mission-critical disputes, including class actions. Bettina has a track record of winning notable judgments and negotisting strong and favorable settlements for companies, governmental and private clients. She is not only known for her skills as trial lawyer in civil, commercial and corporate litigation, but also in sophisticated criminal defence work, such as insider trading, price-fixing, fraud and corruption cases. In 2017, Who’s Who Legal recognized her – as their first European recipient - of their world-wide “Lawyer of the Year” award in Asset Recovery. Bettina is Past Co-Chair of the IBA Litigation Committee (2016–17) and is currently a member of its advisory board. She is the President of Transparency International (Austrian Chapter), the exclusive Austrian representative of the ICC-FraudNet and Vice President of the Vienna Bar. In Austria, she is a fixture in lecturing on dispute resolution at the Austrian Lawyers’ Academy and the University of Innsbruck and a sought-after expert, frequently consulted and interviewed by print media and TV. She is ranked in Band 1 / Top Tier by Chambers and Legal 500 in Dispute Resolution, Austria.
