Biography

Klas Eklund is the Senior Economist of Mannheimer Swartling since 2018. As such, he is the first general economist in any Nordic law firm. He helps the firm and its clients with analyses on all kinds of topics where colleagues may feel the need for economic expertise. This could pertain to tax systems, crypto assets, trade wars, sanctions, general economic development etc etc. Before joining MSA, Klas was e.g Chief economist of the bank SEB and under-secretary of state at the Swedish Ministry of Finance. He has been the adviser to two Swedish Prime Ministers and two Presidents of the European Commission. Klas has published some 1,100 articles and columns on economic topics, a score of books, including the best-selling Swedish text book on economics – and an economic thriller about murder and insider crime in the MoF, later made into a TV series. He has been awarded with the King’s gold medal for “outstanding services as an economist”
