Biography
Chris is an experienced commercial IT lawyer who was one of the first specialist IT outsourcing lawyers in the UK and one of the first to recognise the significance of artificial intelligence and robotics for the future development of technology and the law. He set up the AI and Robotics practice at Bristows 10 years ago and remains as a co-head of this. During this time, he has worked with the European Commission on its early work relating to civil liability for autonomous IT systems and vehicles, the European Robotics Forum and the AI Council of the UK Government on regulatory development issues. He now advises a variety of clients on the legal and technical implications of developing and using AI systems. He is a regular speaker on the subjects of AI and digital transformation and was recently the co-chair of the Technology Committee of the International Bar Association (IBA), creating and organising its flagship AI Day at one of its annual global conferences.
