Biography

Pei-Li Wong is a Global Forensics Managing Principal in BDO with more than 25 years of experience in forensic accounting and auditing. She also leads the firm’s Asia Forensic Desk, covering over 20 countries and territories in Asia, and is a member of BDO’s Global Forensics Steering Committee. She has substantial international experience conducting forensic investigations, due diligence, risk assessments, and compliance reviews. Her experience includes numerous internal investigations involving allegations of employee and corporate misconduct including corruption, export controls violations, financial reporting fraud, asset misappropriation, supply chain fraud, and unreported conflicts of interest. In addition to her experience in North America and Asia, Pei Li has conducted investigations in Europe, Latin America, and other areas identified as high-risk for fraud. She has worked with multinational organizations in a broad range of industries, as well as their subsidiaries, representative offices, and third-party agents in global locations. Pei Li also assists clients to monitor and assess compliance risks globally, identifying red flags indicative of threats to an organization’s business operations and internal control structures. She has provided recommendations on remediation procedures and fraud prevention measures, and has helped clients with regulatory inquiries, including matters before the Department of Justice and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Additionally, Pei Li has experience in matters involving money-laundering, export controls and tax regulations. Pei Li is a member of the executive team assisting the Special Compliance Coordinator appointed by the U.S. Department of Commerce to coordinate, monitor, assess and report on the U.S. export control compliance of Zhongxing Telecommunications Equipment Corporation and ZTE Kangxun Telecommunications Ltd. (collectively, ZTE). Pei Li was recognized by Global Investigations Review in its 2021 Women in Investigations list, which highlights 100 remarkable female professionals in the field globally. She is also fluent in Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese).
