Biography

Joanie Zhang is a senior partner at Beijing Dacheng Law Offices in Zhuhai, China. Joanie Zhang attended Lord Chancellor’s Training Program for Chinese Young Lawyers training course in UK and Hong Kong SAR in 2001. Joanie has been practicing law for over 30 years, focusing extensively on labour and employment law. She advises employers on employment policies, drafts employment-related agreements, and represents clients in litigation and administrative proceedings. She has particular expertise in anti-fraud investigations, especially in handling complex cross-border cases for multinational corporations. Joanie has led numerous internal investigations involving employee fraud, skillfully navigating the legal challenges in China, where evidence collection is often constrained by restrictions on private investigators. In these anti-fraud investigations, Joanie’s involvement spans the entire process—from the pre-investigation phase through litigation and employee dismissals—helping clients recover losses while ensuring compliance. In high-profile cases for major foreign-funded enterprises in China, she has leveraged her knowledge of both criminal and civil law to develop effective strategies that address fraud while safeguarding clients’ reputations. Joanie has been recognized as a “Leading Foreign-Related Lawyer in Guangdong Province” and named among the “Top 1000 Foreign-Related Lawyers in China.” Additionally, Joanie has also been recommended by The Legal 500 China rankings for Labor & Employment in 2020, 2022, 2023, and 2025, and by Chambers and Partners for Corporate/Commercial: Guangdong: Contentious (PRC Firms) in both 2024 and 2025.
