Biography

Asaf is a Senior Staff Attorney and Director of the Transgender Youth Project at the National Center for Lesbian Rights. Asaf has worked to advance the rights of the little “t” in LGBT for over ten years and is an expert on legal issues affecting transgender youth in the United States. He represents transgender youth and their families in a wide range of legal matters including discrimination in schools, child custody disputes, child abuse and neglect, and access to affirming medical and mental health care. Asaf also does a lot of advocacy outside the courtroom, including trainings for professionals working with transgender youth, working with public and private entities to adopt transgender-inclusive policies, and writing op-eds and public
