Martha Roggenkamp

Biography

Martha M. Roggenkamp is connected to the Faculty of Law as Professor of Energy Law on 1 February 2005 and is an expert in the field of Dutch, European and international energy law. Roggenkamp is also director of the Groningen Center of Energy Law (see www.gcel.nl ) and board member of the Groningen Energy and Sustainability Program (GESP), the North Sea Energy Law Program (see www.nselp.eu ) and coordinator of the specialization Energy & Climate Law in the LLM EU law. Roggenkamp (Groningen, 1955) studied Scandinavian Language and Literature (Norwegian) and Dutch Law at the University of Groningen. From 1986 to 2004 she worked as a researcher at the now-ended International Institute for Energy Law at Leiden University. She obtained her PhD at Leiden University in 1999 with a thesis entitled The legal framework for pipelines in the oil and gas industry . In 1991 she published the book Oil and Gas: Netherlands Law and Practice. She has also been involved in the creation of Energy Law in Europe - National, International and EU Law and Institutions (2001, 2007), Energy Liberalization in the Netherlands - On course?(2001), Regulation of wind energy projects (2003), European Energy Law Report I-IX (2004-2013), Regulation of Power Exchanges in Europe (2005) and Energy Networks and the Law (2012). Roggenkamp is also co-founder and chairman of the Dutch Association for Energy Law (NeVER) and member of the editorial board of the Dutch Journal of Energy Law as well as member of the editorial board of the Journal of Energy and Natural Resources Law, International Energy Law and Taxation Review and Renewable Energy Law and Policy.
