Biography

Catarina Brito Ferreira joined the firm in 2003 and became a partner in 2017. She is a member of the corporate and commercial and capital markets team. She also collaborates with the Africa Team - an internal structure that guarantees, on a permanent basis, and in close cooperation with the member firms of the MLGTS Legal Circle, personalised day-to-day assistance to clients on matters that involve or are related to the jurisdictions of the African Portuguese speaking countries – in which she regularly assists clients in the energy area. She is a lawyer with experience in corporate and commercial law, energy law, as well as in securities law.In the area of corporate and commercial law she has acted as legal advisor in several mergers, acquisitions and disposals of companies, including among others, the acquisition and disposal of companies with head offices in Portugal, Spain and Angola, on behalf of domestic and foreign clients in various sectors, such as construction, information technologies and communications and energy. In the area of securities law, she has, among other projects, acted as a legal advisor in the first stage of the reprivatisation of the national TSO. Most of her work has in fact been developed in the energy law area, mostly with the largest Portuguese utility company, taking part not only in several M&A and joint venture transactions, but also in public tender bids and specialising in energy law regulation. In this specific business area, Catarina has also been involved in several initial public offers. Catarina Brito Ferreira also provides general legal advice to numerous companies (national and foreign) in the areas of commercial and corporate law.
