Biography

Susan Stone is the General Counsel of Marsh, and is a member of the Marsh Executive Committee. Susan joined Marsh as General Counsel on February 15, 2017. Prior to joining Marsh, Susan practiced law at Sidley Austin, LLP for 27 years, where she served as a member of the Executive Committee and Co-Head of the firm’s insurance practice. Earlier in her career, she worked as a federal prosecutor in the US Attorney’s Office. Susan has also taught as an adjunct professor at DePaul University College of Law. Susan graduated summa cum laude from Yale University and cum laude from Harvard Law School. Throughout her career Susan has received a number of professional recognitions, including being listed in Chambers USA: Leading Lawyers for Business, The Legal 500, Who’s Who Legal, Leading Lawyers and Benchmark’s Top Women Litigators in the US. Susan was also named a “Woman to Watch” by Business Insurance. Susan has served on the boards of numerous civic and philanthropic boards, including Roosevelt University, WTTW Public Television, The Auditorium Theatre, Chicago Children’s Museum, Erikson Institute and the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights.
