Luiz Aboim
Biography
Luiz is an experienced arbitration practitioner with deep connections to the Brazilian and Lusophone markets. He is a Brazilian national, admitted to the Brazilian and Paris Bars. He has 10 years of experience handling corporate and commercial disputes, particularly in the energy, resources and infrastructure sectors. Luiz has advised clients in two of the largest Brazilian corporate disputes to date, as well as in disputes in Lusophone and Francophone Africa. As well as advising clients in relation to international arbitration disputes, Luiz has acted as arbitrator in cases involving Brazilian, Angolan and South African parties, and has represented clients on major projects, transactions and complex negotiations in Brazil, Europe and Africa. As part of the firm's Lusophone capability serving Brazil, Angola, Mozambique and Portugal, he works closely with the Firm's Latin American Arbitration Practice and its São Paulo office. Luiz is a member of the ICC Latin American Group and of the ICC Commission on Arbitration. He is the rapporteur for Brazil for the permanent Task Force on Recognition and Enforcement of Awards under the New York Convention.
