Biography

CMS Francis Lefebvre Avocat Michel is with the international tax department. From 2002 to 2007, Michel chaired the tax practice of NY office. Michel has an extensive experience in assisting inbound and outbound investments for French and foreign banks, funds, multinationals in M&A transactions. Michel is also involved in cross-border reorganizations. Michel also assists clients in tax audits and within the course of litigation. Michel also advises territory and states such as Saint Barthélemy (French west Indies) or Andorra. Michel is an active member of the American Bar Association (ABA), the International Bar Association (IBA) as a former officer of Tax Committee, New York State Bar Association (NYSBA) as former co-chair of the International Tax Committee of the International Law. He is also member of the International Fiscal Association (IFA) as co-reporter for France for 2010 IFA Congress, Tax Review (New York Tax Club), the Institut des Avocats Conseils Fiscaux (IACF). Michel co-chairs the upcoming IBA/ABA and OCDE conference in Paris : U.S. and Europe Tax Practice Trends conference (April 2019). Michel is also the tax member and tax representative of the French association of Trustees (“fiduciaire”). He is a frequent lecturer on international/European taxation and structuring and regularly contributes to European and American publications. Michel co-wrote the report for France on “Tax treaties and tax avoidance: application of the anti-avoidance provisions” at the 2010 annual IFA seminar. Michel seats at the Board of the “association Ecole Jeannine Manuel”, one of the leading school in France. Michel is fluent in English and French. Michel began his career in 1993 at CMS Francis Lefebvre Avocats's Corporate Tax Group before joining Linklaters in 2000 (Paris and London). From 2002 to 2007, he was the tax managing partner of the New York office of CMS Francis Lefebvre Avocats. He joined the International tax department of the Paris Office in 2007.
