Biography

Roland Mathys is a Partner and head of Schellenberg Wittmer’s Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Group, dealing with all matters around technology, data, digital and cyber law. He advises clients in outsourcing transactions and major technology projects, particularly in the finance, life science and retail industries. Roland and his team get involved in all technology and data related aspects of M&A transactions. Roland also renders advice in all matters related to emerging technologies (e.g. IoT, blockchain, AI). Data protection, both under Swiss law and the EU General Data Protection Regulation, technology related compliance issues, cybersecurity and ICT dispute resolution are further strong fields of his activity. Roland Mathys regularly publishes in his areas of specialization and speaks on technology law related topics at national and international conferences. He is a board member and committee chair of the International Technology Law Association (ITechLaw), an officer and subcommittee chair of the International Bar Association (IBA) and co-chair of the law committee of swissICT, the largest Swiss professional association of the ICT industry.
