Biography

Kirstene is a financial services specialist, with particular expertise in acting for asset managers in relation to investment funds and products. Although perhaps best known for advising on UK authorised investment funds, her practice has evolved over the years to cover international product structures, insurance and pension products and a wide range of alternative investment fund structures. Many projects involve innovative, bespoke fund structuring advice. Her expertise is founded on an in depth knowledge, and understanding, of relevant law and regulation, notably UK authorised investment fund law and regulation, regulation of firms under FSMA, the impact of EU Directives, including UCITS, AIFMD, and wider relevant regulatory approaches. Having never been pigeon holed in a narrow area, she retains an exceptional overview of the regulatory environment for asset managers. With over 30 years' experience in this sector, Kirstene's leading expertise is acknowledged by UK and international legal directories. She is named as one of the Top 30 world leading practitioners in investment funds in EuroMoney's Expert Guides, Best of the Best 2018 (Global). Kirstene is one of only 22 women leaders in the UK named in IFLR 1000’s Womens Leaders, an elite cohort of the 300 leading female transactional experts in local markets globally, she is ranked as a leading lawyer by IFLR 1000 (2019), the Guide to the world's leading financial law firms in respect of financial services, investment funds and investment management. Kirstene remains a Consultant Partner at Fieldfisher LLP but is no longer focused solely on private practice. She was appointed as a non-executive director of Jupiter Unit Trust Managers Limited from 1 May 2019, and looks forward to applying her skills to a number of new roles over future years.
