Biography

Richard B. Zabel is the General Counsel and Chief Legal Officer at Elliott Management Corporation. He is formerly the Deputy United States Attorney at the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York. From October 2009 until October 2011, he was the Chief of the Criminal Division. From 1999 until 2009, prior to rejoining the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Mr. Zabel was a partner at the law firm Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP, where he was co-head of the firmwide litigation practice. He teaches as an adjunct professor of National Security and Terrorism Investigations and Prosecutions at Columbia Law School.
