Dear members of the IBA Litigation Committee,

We are delighted to publish yet another edition of the Litigation Committee’s newsletter.

In this issue, following the lead of the IBA’s new President, Almudena Arpón de Mendívil Aldama, we have chosen to place focus on the promotion of the rule of law and its role in the practice of litigation across our various jurisdictions.  We are proud to publish a number of interesting insights from our litigators, all of which demonstrate the vital role that the law, and our lawyers play in upholding justice in this sphere.

We also have two interesting feature interviews for you: the first with the Immediate Past President of the Law Society of England & Wales, I. Stephanie Boyce, and the second with UN Special Rapporteur on the Rights to Freedom of Peaceful Assembly and of Association, Mr Clément Nyaletsossi Voule.

This edition is also packed with a number of legal updates, human interest articles (including one by Chat GPT) and the all-important tour of Buenos Aires – the site of the forthcoming Litigation Forum

We thank you in advance for reading it and thank our previous editor, Daan Lunsingh Scheurleer for all his hard work in assisting with the last two editions.

Please keep the articles coming for the next edition, due in Autumn 2023.
