Lana Vukmirović Mišić, IBA European Regional Forum (ERF) Vice Chair, South East Regional Group

1. What does being European mean to you?

As someone from Montenegro – a country not yet in the European Union but often described as the next one ready to join – being European is more about spirit than status. It means sharing values of openness, dialogue and mutual respect across an incredibly diverse patchwork of languages and traditions. Europe is like a compact continent bursting with centuries of history and cultural quirks – and I love that.
That said, while my European Union friends may cross borders with a swipe of an ID card, my passport still collects its fair share of stamps (and questions). For me, being European is about embracing difference, finding unity in variety and occasionally needing to explain where Montenegro is on the map.

2. What would you like to accomplish in the ERF in 2025?

As Vice Chair for the South East Regional Group, my goal is to turn our regional momentum into concrete opportunities. That includes bringing together ideas from our Council Members, hosting regular calls across the region and helping foster meaningful business connections among our members. I also want to support other European Regional Forum projects and help make the ERF feel like a true community.

3. Do you have any hidden talents or hobbies?

When I am off the clock (and fortunate enough to have a few free days), I am usually travelling – ideally somewhere with local markets, long conversations and unfamiliar flavours. I read a lot, both for work and for pleasure, and I have started collecting traditional recipes from across Europe.
And while I do not sail often, few things relax me more than the sound of wind in the sails. There is something deeply calming about open water, even just imagining it – especially after a long period of deadlines and screen time.
