Panellists will draw on their own experience to discuss legal and regulatory issues they have faced, and to provide practical advice on how to address these types of challenges when they arise.

This programme analyses the complex insurance issues arising from high-exposure mass tort claims, including environmental contaminants, pharmaceutical products and emerging risks. This session will explore the coverage investigation, the coordination and management of multiple carriers, and addressing, triggering and allocating liability across multiple years of primary and excess policies.

This session will look at recent M&A activity in the insurance sector and relevant factors driving dealmaking, including consolidation in areas such as brokerage and most relevant interests by investors. The panel will discuss current trends, last deals and practical challenges.

Professor Franziska Arnold-Dwyer will present her latest research on the reinsurer’s obligation to pay and follow the settlements clauses, both from a conceptual and a practical perspective considering the latest developments in case law. The panel will then hear perspectives and practice insights from lawyers in private practice in both the US and Chile.

A decade after Brexit reshaped the UK's relationship with the EU, the implications continue to evolve. Panellists will discuss how Brexit has altered the operating landscape for insurance industry participants and what lessons have been learned. The panel will discuss the impact on market access and the effectiveness of alternative structures put in place to address the loss of passporting rights. The panel will also consider whether the industry has already adapted or is it still evolving, as well as what the future may hold.
