GCs in large businesses today work in an increasingly complex, risk conscious global environment. They inevitably and necessarily develop skills and competences which are in demand at board level. But does that mean that GCs should seek board positions? How can GC directors marry their responsibilities to the organisation as a whole, with the need to build a close working relationship with the CEO? How will the appointment of a GC be seen by the rest of the board - will it raise their compliance game or lull them into a false sense of security? This session will address the pros and cons for GCs of obtaining a seat on the board, as well as the potential pitfalls and how to avoid them.
