Description

Environmental, Societal and Governance (ESG) criteria are a set of standards for a company’s operations. Environmental criteria looks at how a company performs as a steward of the natural environment. Social criteria examines how a company’s manages relationships with the its employees, suppliers, customers and the communities where it operates. Governance deals with a company’s leadership, executive pay, audits and internal controls, and shareholder rights. The sessions will consider the perspectives of the London Stock Exchange, the SEC, an issuer, an institutional investor and external counsel on the following questions: • What does ESG mean? • How do legislators and regulators address ESG in regulations? • How is ESG embedded within the structure and culture of a company? • What is the approach to ESG responsibility from an investor’s perspective? • How can external counsel add value to the ESG approach of a client?
