Description

While strong graduates from a good law school are important, law firms also look for people with business acumen and commerciality. Candidates need the potential to develop these skills and an awareness of their importance. This session will discuss the growing demand for soft skills in Hong Kong and throughout the Asia-Pacific region. Law firms are looking for a more well-rounded lawyer who can bring to the role other skill sets, including strong communication skills, especially with regard to client servicing, an ability to work in a team and an ability to work in a culturally diverse environment and liaise with high-profile domestic and foreign clients.

The session will also survey the needs of ‘millennials’ in the workforce and consider if they are well understood? Thinking in the profession is moving from work-life balance to the work-life integration that technology offers in ways that were never possible before.

What are cutting-edge law firms doing to deliver the kinds of career that young practising lawyers demand and to get the best performance from them?
