The human right to food: issues for lawyers
Wednesday 10 October (1615 - 1730)

Description
Rome is headquarters to the United Nation’s World Food Programme, Food and Agriculture Organization, and International Fund for Agricultural Development. The issue of the human right to food becomes particularly apparent in situations of famine. However, in many countries without famine, people suffer from chronic malnourishment. What is causing this? Is it merely an issue of efficient agricultural practices or are other forces at work? What does a right to food mean and do lawyers have any part to play in the implementation of this right?
