Description

The renewable power generation dilemma is how to structure a bankable long term power purchase agreement (PPA) in affordable terms. What is the price? Who pays it? Who is it paid to? These are just a few questions that arise at the initial stages of renewable power generation project bank-ability analysis. Further questions would refer to the development stage of the project and the corresponding associated project risks, the technical and financial capacity of the developer, sovereign and country risks, the financial capacity of the project to coexist with market revenues, etc. Renewable power generation has become more competitive and has the ability in certain jurisdictions to compete for PPAs with conventional generation projects both at greenfield and operational stages, changing the landscape for obtaining Power Purchase Agreements. This session will identify the main issues that are addressed when assessing bank-ability of Power Purchase Agreements.
