Description

Digitisation is radically changing international supply chains. Traditionally comprising a series of discrete processes (marketing, product development, manufacturing, distribution, logistics and customs), the supply chain of the near future will more resemble a seamlessly integrated and transparent system fully accessible to all parties involved. This new system will depend on several key digital technologies including integrated planning, logistics platforms, autonomous logistics, analytics, robotics, smart warehousing, digital and virtual payments and even 3D printing. Those who move quickly to digitise their supply chain, including customs procedure, will gain efficiencies, to develop new business models and revenue streams, to develop a new degree of resiliency and to create a competitive advantage. This panel will discuss how digitisation has affected the logistics, trade and customs environment, what we can expect in the future, and the key legal issues arising from these new technologies.
