Morning Keynote Address
Auditorium 15, Level 1

Description

The developers of AI are building a technology that will have profound implications for society not just in the here and now, but for generations to come. As AI reshapes economies, institutions, and our very way of life, the question is no longer how to respond, but how to anticipate what’s coming, and build accordingly.

This Morning Keynote Address will feature Dr Nicklas Lundblad, co-founder of Pharos Futures Research Group, former Head of Global Policy and Public Affairs at Google DeepMind, and co-author of The Future Habit: How to Gain an Edge with AI-Driven Foresight. Drawing on experience from two decades at the frontier of AI development and policy, Lundblad will offer a first-hand view on where the technology is heading – and which of today’s strongly held assumptions may need to be completely rethought.

The keynote marks a milestone for the IBA's newly launched Artificial Intelligence Institute, created to bring the legal profession's expertise to bear on global AI governance and policy. IBA President Claudio Visco and the Institute's founding Director, Dr Farzana Dudhwala, will introduce and moderate the discussion.
