Description

Greenland’s role in the international legal order: perspectives from the Kingdom of Denmark

As Greenland assumes an increasingly prominent position in global discussions on geopolitics, natural resources, climate change and international cooperation, its role in the international legal order is attracting growing attention. This bar breakfast will explore Greenland’s evolving place within international law and international relations and examine how legal and political developments are shaping its engagement with global partners.

The session will feature a keynote address by Vivian Motzfeldt, Member of Inatsisartut (Parliament of Greenland) and former Minister for Foreign Affairs, Business and Trade of Greenland, followed by remarks from Martin Lavesen, President of the Danish Bar and Law Society (Advokatsamfundet), and Jesper Rothe, Chair of the Association of Danish Law Firms (Danske Advokater). The discussion will provide participants with unique insights into Greenland’s international priorities, its growing global significance and the legal dimensions of its engagement with the international community.
