General Counsel roundtable.

‘I think that you will all agree that we are living in most interesting times. I never remember myself a time in which our history was so full, in which day by day brought us new objects of interest, and, let me say also, new objects for anxiety.’ Today, this statement seems truer than ever, although it was in fact made by Joseph Chamberlain in a speech some 125 years ago. What is true for politicians and statesmen, seems truer for general counsel. The challenges are multi-faceted and increasingly complex. The panel will discuss how geopolitical events, and in particular the pandemic, were perceived in the general counsel office, what challenges they and new trends such as ESG demands posed and how they have been managed in the various industries. It will also discuss whether, and how, the pandemic changes the internal legal department's demands on outside counsel.
