Short film: Legal profession in peril - the case of Tajikistan (2018)

In Tajikistan, the legal profession is struggling to fulfil the crucial role it is meant to play in ensuring access to justice for all. Today, lawyers in the country often face high risks of persecution, harassment and even severe sanctions, including imprisonment, for merely doing their job.

Moreover, 2016 legal bar reforms have drastically reduced the number of qualified lawyers in Tajikistan and this has led to a major negative impact on ensuring access to justice for all.

The IBAHRI works to strengthen the legal profession in Tajikistan, secure their independence from the state, and help them perform their professional duties.
