IBA 2023 Annual Conference – Invitation to Organise a General Interest Session
The IBA Annual Conference is the premier conference for legal professionals worldwide to meet, share knowledge, network, build contacts and develop business.
The conference is attended by members and non-members of the IBA, with lawyers from over 130 jurisdictions and working across all areas of the legal profession attending, including lawyers in private practice, in-house counsel, human rights advocates, judges, bar leaders, regulators and government representatives. This unique mix of viewpoints provides a rich environment for discussion, debate and learning as well as the opportunity to develop lasting business relationships and lifelong friendships.
This year, the IBA Annual Conference will be held in Paris, France. The week-long event will feature over 200 sessions organised by the IBA core substantive Committees. Sessions will vary in style and cover most sectors and practice areas. In addition to the Committee sessions, a General Interest programme will be offered, including sessions providing practical tips and skills training designed to enhance both personal and professional development and also further develop a firm’s practice.
Previous Annual Conferences have hosted General Interest sessions on international networking, maintaining and developing client relationships, how to give a winning presentation and practical tips for public speaking, adding an opportunity for personal development as part of your attendance.
If you or anyone you know would be interested in organising and running a session/workshop at the IBA 2023 Annual Conference, offering practical training in an area that would be of interest to our delegates, please submit a session proposal to divisions@int-bar.org by no later than Friday 10 February.
Proposals must include:
- an outline of the session/training proposed, including its aims and objectives;
- explanation of how the session/training will add value to the IBA, the Annual Conference and to those attending;
- a short description (up to 200 words), which can be included in the Conference programme if selected;
- your bio and/or further information on your background and expertise in the area of the session/training you wish to provide;
- confirmation that you are willing to fund your own travel and accommodation expenses to attend the Conference; and
- confirmation that the IBA has the right to publish the session/training materials in all media as decided appropriate by the IBA.
* Please note that the session will be run in a 75 minute time slot yet to be scheduled between Monday 30 October – Friday 3 November
All proposals will be reviewed by the IBA Annual Conference Review Committee. Applicants will be notified of their decision by end of February.
