The Executive director of the International Bar Association (IBA), Dr Mark Ellis, has been admitted as a Fellow to King's College London (King’s) – one of the United Kingdom's oldest and most prestigious educational institutions.

Professor Dan Hunter, the Executive Dean of the Dickson Poon School of Law at King's College London, said: ‘This Fellowship is conferred on King’s alumnus Dr Mark Ellis, in recognition of his outstanding professional achievements and contribution to international criminal law. The field of international criminal law is one that embodies the very essence of our commitment to justice, human rights, and global peace. Mark has dedicated his life's work to upholding these principles and seeking accountability for those responsible for violating them in a world often marred by conflict and injustice […] A fearless exponent of human rights, Mark champions King’s vision to make the world a better place and is an inspiration to our community. It is a pleasure to award Dr Mark Ellis with a Fellowship of King’s College London.’

The ceremony to grant the Fellowship took place on Friday 2 August 2024 at the Royal Festival Hall, Southbank Centre, Belvedere Road, London SE1 8XX, United Kingdom.

The Fellowship of King's dates back to 1847 and marks contributions by exceptional individuals to King's and/or to wider society, including Nobel Prize-winners Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Professor Peter Higgs.

King’s College London was founded by King George IV and Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington in 1829 and became one of the two founding colleges of the University of London in 1836.
