Dear Law Firm Management Committee members,
Welcome to the first Law Firm Management Committee e-Bulletin of 2020!
We begin this e-Bulletin with a welcome message from the Law Firm Management Committee Co-Chairs, and a ‘meet the officer’ interview with our new Co-Chair, Rolandas Valiunas.
These are followed by some highlights / takeaways from two recent events: the 6th Annual Law Firm Management Committee Retreat held in Seoul, where changes / disruptions in the legal profession were discussed; and, the IBA Europe-Caucasus-Asia Forum held in Tbilisi, which covered cutting-edge issues of the legal market and profession, including those pertaining to international client services.
We are also publishing for the first time the results of two thought-provoking surveys conducted by the Committee in the second half of 2019. The first survey, ‘Perceptions of digitalisation’, received over 685 responses from 100 countries, and it explores the current attitudes to digital technologies in the legal profession and the predictions for their future development. And the second survey, ‘Who will collect the fruits of your efforts in growing talent?’, examines issues relating to talent retention and management from the point of view of three key players - law students, young lawyers and managing partners.
As always, the e-Bulletin also contains some very interesting articles authored by Committee members from different jurisdictions, sharing their thoughts and experiences on current law firm management topics / issues, including strategies for business development, law firm marketing, partner remuneration, becoming a managing partner, law firm automation and changing expectations of in-house counsels.
We hope you find this e-Bulletin useful.
If you would like to submit an article, or any other material relating to law firm management issues / topics, for publication on the Law Firm Management Committee webpage and in the Committee e-Bulletins, please email them to tahera.mandviwala@tdtlegal.co for consideration.
Regards,
Tahera Mandviwala
