The Symposium will take place from 0900-1500 with lunch provided.
Please note that even if you are unable to join the Annual Conference, you can register for the Rule of Law Symposium for free.
If you are NOT already registered for the Annual Conference and would like to attend the Rule of Law Symposium, you must pre-register by Wednesday 5 November by completing the online registration form. There is no registration fee to attend the Symposium.
The Rule of Law Forum has been given the responsibility to provoke, urge and assist the membership of the IBA in supporting and promoting the rule of law. As part of that, the final day of the IBA Annual Conference has always been dedicated to rule of law issues, with high-profile speakers from around the world participating. Following successful rule of law symposia in Chicago, Singapore, Buenos Aires, Madrid, Vancouver, Dubai, Dublin, Boston, Tokyo, Vienna, Washington, DC, Sydney, Rome, Seoul, Miami, Paris, Mexico and the final day of the conference in Toronto will once again be devoted to the rule of law.
The Rule of Law Symposium’s will showcase three sessions:
0900 - 1045 The future of multilateralism: international law and institutions in an era of impunity and great power competition
1100 - 1230 Civility and the legal profession
1330 - 1500 Sanctions: economic warfare and the law
