This webinar will examine how Asia-Pacific jurisdictions are responding to the growing problem of online harm, particularly in the context of social media and online platforms. Bringing together speakers from across the region, the panel will explore the legal and practical issues arising from harmful online conduct, including platform regulation, platform responsibility, available remedies, and emerging risks associated with AI-generated content, deepfakes, and scam advertisements. The discussion will take a comparative APAC approach, highlighting both common trends and distinctive regional features. In particular, the panel will consider:
- recent regulatory developments, including social media regulation and age-related restrictions;
- the evolving responsibilities and potential liability of platforms;
- remedies available to victims, including disclosure, takedown, injunctions and damages; and
- emerging issues such as AI-generated content, deepfakes and scam advertisements.
