Mariela Buendia-Corrochano

Biography

Mariela Buendia-Corrochano, LEED AP ID+C, NCIDQ, IIDA, Principal, Gensler Mariela Buendia-Corrochano is a Principal, Design Director, and leader of Gensler’s Professional Service Firms Practice in the Washington D.C. office. A former Co-Managing Principal of Gensler’s Mexico City office, she has more than 25 years of experience in design and strategic planning for a diverse group of global, national, and local clients. Mariela champions relationships with law firm clients like Clifford Chance, Mayer Brown LLP, DLA Piper, and Greenberg Traurig. Her designs meet clients’ functional needs while establishing a strong visual identity with human experience at the forefront. Mariela has won numerous local and international awards for her designs, including the 2020 Obra del Año, and 2019 IIDA Latin American Award, IIDA Mid-Atlantic’s “Gold Award” and “Pinnacle Award,” and AIA awards. Her projects have been featured in local and international publications such as Architecture Magazine, Interior Design, Oficinas del Mundo, Obras, Bisnow, AIA DC News, Washington Business Journal, and the Legal Times. Mariela received her Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Architecture Degrees from The Catholic University of America, her interior design registration from IIDA, and her LEED® Accreditation from USGBC. She is on the Washington Women’s Leadership Initiative (WWLI) board, previously on the DUOC Universidad Católica Corporate Board in Santiago de Chile, and is actively involved with ULI and USGBC.
