Amrish Tiwari
Biography
Amrish is a partner, patent attorney, and practice lead for K&S Partners’ life science patent practice. He has been practicing as a Patent professional since 2005 and is a registered patent agent. Amrish handles contentious matters, prosecution, and dispute resolution in the areas of patents and Biological Diversity laws. He has rich experience handling patent matters related to pharmaceuticals, biopharma, therapeutics, organic chemistry, nucleoside chemistry, polymers, biochemistry, microbiology, molecular biology, and biotechnology. Amrish advises a diverse set of national and global clients ranging from universities to start-ups and Fortune 500 companies in all aspects of Indian Patent law, including drafting, prosecution, enforcement of patents, freedom to operate, due diligence, technology transfer, and licensing, apart from managing patent portfolios. He has specialized knowledge in data protection and privacy laws. He regularly appears before the Indian Patent Office (IPO) and various courts including the High Court of Delhi, Madras, Shimla, and the Supreme Court of India, and represent clients in writs, appeals, and enforcement matters. Amrish is a member of the IPR Committee of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and the National Committee on pharmaceuticals of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), the leading industry bodies in India. In addition, he is a Chairperson of the IPR Forum of the Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA), Delhi branch, and the Chair of the Life Sciences Subcommittee of the Technology Law Committee of the International Bar Association (IBA). He is a regular speaker at various conferences and seminars. Prior to joining the firm in 2005, Amrish worked with a renowned clinical research organization.
