Claire Toumieux
Biography
Claire Toumieux heads the Paris Employment law department. She advises businesses seeking to define, implement and/or improve their human resource management strategies. She has built up a strong reputation in assisting corporate groups, both listed and unlisted, and investment funds through strategic operations such as mergers and acquisitions, collective bargaining agreements and reorganizations. She also represents them both on sensitive individual and collective disputes. Claire has been Chair of the European Employment Lawyers Association (2015-2017), the European body for lawyers specialising in employment law. Claire is regularly interviewed in the French press (Le Monde, Le Figaro, Les Echos, L’Opinion), even TV shows (RMC–Bourdin Direct, Journal de 20 heures TF1) and international publications (Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, Agence France Presse...). She contributes to A&O leading Employment Law blog as well as European Employment Law Cases publication. In 2022 Claire has also been recognised by International Employment Lawyer (IEL) as one of the leading Women Leaders in Employment Law worldwide. In June 2019, she was invited as a lead discussant on collective terminations of employment, to participate in the OECD project to review OECD indicators of employment protection legislation, which evaluate the regulations on the dismissal of workers on regular contracts and the hiring of workers on temporary contracts. Claire has also become a key speaker at the Rencontres Economiques d’Aix-en-Provence, the economic forum which brings together business leaders, academics, international organizations, NGOs and politicians. In June 2019, she has been invited as a lead discussant on collective terminations of employment, to participate in the OECD project to review the Employment Protection Indicators to measure the level of employment protection of OECD countries.
