Biography

Akber Datoo is the founder and CEO of D2 Legal Technology (D2LT). After working as a technologist at the investment bank UBS for a number of years, he requalified as a financial services lawyer, working at the magic circle law firm Allen & Overy. In 2011, he set up D2LT, a legal data and change consulting firm - that advises clients on the use of legal technology to optimise and enhance the way in which legal services are provided. Akber is the current chair of the digital assets and smart contracts subcommittee at the Law Society of England and Wales, and a professor at the University of Surrey, teaching "Law & Technology", "Fintech Policy" and "AI and Ethics". In 2019, he was recognised as one of the "top ten market shapers" in the FT Intelligent Business Awards.
