Eleonora Coelho

Biography

Eleonora Coelho has a law degree from University of São Paulo Law School (USP) and has a Master in Litigation, Arbitration and Alternative Methods of Dispute Resolution (ADR) from Université Paris II – Panthéon-Assas. Eleonora is founding partner of Eleonora Coelho Advogados and served as president of the Center for Arbitration and Mediation of the Chamber of Commerce Brazil-Canada (CAM-CCBC) from 2019 to 2023. She is also president of the Permanent Arbitration Commission of the São Paulo Lawyers Institute (IASP) (2022-2024). She acts as counsel and arbitrator in national and international arbitrations and is listed in the roster of arbitrators of many arbitral institutions. She has authored several publications on arbitration and ADRs and frequently speaks at national and international events about arbitration. Eleonora was a professor at the LL.M. in Transnational Arbitration & Dispute Settlement of SciencesPo École de Droit de Paris (2020/2021) and Guest Lecturer at the Paris Arbitration Academy (2019). Furthermore, Eleonora was a member of the Commission of Jurists designated by the Federal Senate to update the Brazilian Arbitration Law. She is former vice-president of the Brazilian Arbitration Committee (CBAR) and former treasurer of the Brazilian Institute of Construction Law (IBDIC). Since 2009, Eleonora is repeatedly ranked as an outstanding professional in arbitration by Chambers & Partners, Who’s Who Legal and others. Recently, she has been recognized as: “Most in Demand – Arbitration – Global” (Chambers & Partners 2023); “Most in Demand Arbitrators (Band 1) – Brazil” (Chambers & Partners 2023 and 2022); “Global Elite Thought Leader – Arbitration” (Who’s Who Legal 2023 and 2022), “Global Leader - Arbitration (Who’s Who Legal 2023); “National Leader – Arbitration – Brazil” (Who’s Who Legal 2023 and 2022); and “Leading Arbitrator” (Leaders League 2023). She is currently a member of the following institutions: Brazilian Bar Association (OAB); Brazilian Arbitration Committee (CBAR); International Bar Association (IBA); Consultant Counsel of Latin America and the International Advisory Committee for the International Centre for Dispute Resolution (ICDR); Consulting Board of the Center for Arbitration and Mediation of the Chamber of Commerce Brazil-Canada (CAM-CCBC); Board of the Brazilian Institute of Construction Law (IBDIC). Eleonora is fluent in Portuguese, English and French; and speaks Italian and Spanish.
