Biography

Poornima Hatti is a co founder of Samvad Partners and heads the Dispute Resolution practice at Samvād: Partners and is based out of the firm’s Bengaluru office with over twenty years of experience. Ms. Hatti specializes in advising on corporate and commercial disputes, including construction and infrastructure disputes, shareholder disputes, settlement discussions in pre-dispute stages as well as during mediation proceedings, and insolvency matters. She has acted on behalf of Indian and foreign clients in the context of litigation before Indian Courts, quasi-judicial authorities and in arbitration proceedings. Poornima also sits as an arbitrator and mediator. She is qualified as a specialist mediator with the Singapore International Mediation Centre. Ms. Hatti is also an active contentious employment counsel specialising in issues around workplace harassment. She regularly speaks on the subject and has conducted sensitisation programmes on compliance with law both at chambers of commerce and on client requests. Poornima has a keen interest in the area of diversity and law and is an active member of the firm’s pro bono practice. Poornima has co-edited a book on ‘leadership and role modelling at the workplace’ which was published in 2018 by Palgrave McMillan. Palgrave McMilan has also published her articles on the issue of sexual harassment at the workplace. Ms. Hatti is recognised consistently as a leading practitioner by Chambers and Partners, Legal 500, the Indian Business Law Journal, Benchmark Litigation among other legal directories. Her work in diversity among lawyers has been recognised as “trail blazing” by Chambers and Partners Asia Pacific. Poornima is a scholar of Chevening Gurukul of University of Oxford, 2022 and she holds a LLM, degree from London School of Economics, UK, 2006 (Graduate Merit Scholar) and B.A., LL.B (Hons.) degree from National Law School of India University, Bengaluru, 2003.
